With a natural affinity for any terrain and the hardware to handle it, the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport is the ideal ride for anyone who hankers after the great unknown. However, this tough little truck also has the agile handling and compact design needed to navigate the streets, making it a great crossover if you’re looking to escape the city for a weekend adventure outdoors.

Released in 2021 as a variation on the sixth-generation Ford Bronco, the Bronco Sport is a compact crossover SUV that shares its big brother’s off-roading capabilities. With two turbocharged engines available, a 1.5l Ecoboost with three cylinders, and a 2.0l Ecoboost with four, it comes available in four primary trims that allow you to precisely balance your need for efficiency and exhilaration.

From the capable Base model to the adventurous Badlands, each trim comes with a range of interior and exterior design features and driving technology.

Safety and Infotainment Tech

All models come with driver assistance technology, with lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, automated emergency braking, and a blind spot monitor as standard. It’s also possible to select adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology.

The Bronco Sport also features intuitive infotainment systems, with an 8-inch Sync 3 touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. SiriusXM satellite radio and a B&O audio system are also available.

Cargo Space

The Bronco Sport’s tall, truck-style shape means that it’s equally capable of carrying bulky loads or your tallest friends. With the ability to seat five people and 32.5 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, there’s also room for two bikes on the safari-style roof rack and a total payload of 1,000 pounds.

With nifty hidden storage and MOLLE straps available, along with a towing capacity of 2,000 – 2,200 pounds, you’ll be well equipped no matter where the road takes you.

Off-Road Capability

With all models featuring an all-wheel-drive system with 8-speed automatic transmission, a water-wading capacity of 23.6 inches, and five GOAT (Goes Over All Terrain) modes, you’ll be more than capable of handling the trails in the Base, Big Bend, or Outer Banks trims. However, it’s the Badlands model that represents the pinnacle of the Bronco Sport’s all terrain abilities.

It features the more potent powertrain, metal bash plates, an extra inch of suspension height, upgraded cooling components, differential lock feature, and a twin-clutch rear-drive unit. The Badland’s 277 pound-feet of torque and additional mud/ruts and rock crawl GOAT modes make it all the more capable of powering across challenging landscapes.

2022 Updates

Three more exterior colors became available to the Bronco Sport in 2022, so that you can now choose from Velocity Blue, Bronze Smoke, and Hot Pepper Red. The moonroof also became a standalone addition, rather than featuring in any package.
